How to Hold Water in Minecraft on the Computer Without Mods

"Minecraft" for the PC features over 100 items with a variety of uses, such as the bucket, which is used for holding any liquid, including both water and lava. However, your character doesn't start with a bucket -- you must craft one yourself. Before you can craft a bucket, you must have the proper tools, including a crafting table, a furnace and a pickaxe that is stone or stronger. You can use your bucket to collect water from any body of water, such as an ocean or river, and use that water to create your own bodies of water or to put out a fire.

Instructions

    • 1

Use a stone, iron or diamond pickaxe to mine any iron ore block to receive one iron ore for each mined block. You can distinguish an iron ore block from a regular block by the flecks of copper color in the block. Iron ore blocks are typically found below the surface of your Minecraft world. You will need three pieces of iron ore to make a bucket.

    • 2

Combine the iron ore and a piece of coal or wood in any furnace to create an iron ingot. You will need three iron ingots to create a bucket.

    • 3

Use a crafting table and place the iron ingots in the first and third, or outside, positions of the second row of the crafting grid and in the second, or middle, position of the third row to create the bucket. Your iron ingots should appear to be placed in a ̶0;V̶1; shape.

    • 4

Equip the bucket. Once equipped, it displays on the right side of the screen.

    • 5

Point the bucket at any body of water and right-click to hold the water in the bucket. Right-click again to pour the water out.
