Problems With Spider Web Puzzle in Blue Ice

Released in 1995, the PC-based adventure and puzzle game "Blue Ice" focuses on a prince in a make-believe kingdom called Icia. About midway through the game, in the attic of the house, you will encounter a spider's web blocking your path. To advance in the game, you must coax the spider to eat a fly and let you pass.
  1. Not Returning to the Start

    • One mistake players make when attempting to solve the spider web puzzle is thinking it can be solved in the attic alone. The spider needs a fly, but there isn't one inside the house. You must exit the house and return to the front of it, where you began the game.

    Not Moving the Sun

    • Controlling the sun proves crucial to completing the spider puzzle. After you burn the parchment paper in the drawing room, you'll be able to click on the sun when outside and drag it where you need it. After you have control of the sun, you can use it to make the plant on the right side of the screen bloom into a berry.

    Unripe Berry

    • If you pick the berry from the plant in front of the house as soon as it appears, you cannot successfully complete the spider web puzzle. After about a minute in real time, a fly will appear on the screen near the berry. That fly is your actual goal, not the berry, and adding it to your inventory by clicking on it is necessary to continue. If you accidentally picked the berry, you can attempt to catch another one by leaving the front of the house, returning and then growing another plant.

    Touching Drops

    • After you take the fly out of your inventory and place it on the web, you still must guide the spider to the fly to solve the puzzle. Some strands of the spider web appear to have a teardrop on them, but it's actually a sticky substance that will prevent the spider from moving. Success requires steering clear of the sticky drops by guiding the spider from one drop-less strand to the next; if the spider is caught, you must start again.
