Nexon Extension
MapleStory requires you to log on via the Nexon website and launch the game from your browser. If you are using a browser such as Mozilla's Firefox to launch MapleStory, you may see an error that says "Download the game to get started" when you press the Start button. This issue is caused by disabling the Nexon game controller extension. You can re-enable the add-on, refresh the page and start MapleStory as usual.
Changing Channels
Occasionally, you may have to perform the process of opening the channel menu and selecting a new channel to switch to multiple times. The first time you perform this action, nothing may happen. This is especially true if you are on a busy server. Unfortunately, there is no solution to this and you must simply repeat switching channels until it works. Because attacking or being attacked by monsters requires you to wait several seconds before switching channels, you should move to a location where you are not bumped or attacked.
Anti-Virus Compatibility
If you are experiencing trouble logging on, such as the game never appears after launching from your browser, it could be due to compatibility issues with your anti-virus or firewall programs. Consider disabling your programs to see if this remedies the problem. If it does, you can enable your security program and edit the settings to allow the MapleStory application to run.
Windows Issues
MapleStory is technically not compatible with Windows 7. While you can run the game on your computer if you have this operating system, it may not run immediately right after installation. You can right-click the MapleStory icon, choose Properties and select to play it in Windows Vista compatibility mode. Furthermore, you may want to check the option to run the game as an administrator, ensuring that you have all permissions when you play MapleStory on your computer.
