Instructions
Open a Web browser and navigate to sims.ambertation.de. Click the "Downloads" button followed by the download link to download the install file onto the computer. Double-click the ihjiygnstall file and follow the onscreen instructions to install the SimPE application.
Open a new browser window and navigate to modthesims.info. Click the "Downloads" option followed by the "Sims 2" option. Click the "CEP Packages" link followed by the download link to download the install file. Double-click the install file and follow the onscreen instructions to install the package.
Open a new browser window and navigate to the Legacy Texture Tools page on the Nvidia Developers website. Click the download link beneath the "DDS Utilities" heading to download the install file. Double-click the install file and follow the onscreen instructions to install the package.
Double-click the SimPE program icon to launch the program. Click the Extra menu and select the "Preferences" option. Click the "Browse" button to the right of the "Nvidia DDS Tools" heading, locate the Nvidia DDS utilities program you installed in Step 3 and double-click the program to select it. Click the "OK" button to save the changes.
Click the Window menu and select the "Object Workshop" option. Click the "Start" button. Click the "+" icon to the left of the "Columns" option and select the "Connecting Arches" option. Click the "Next" button to continue.
Click the "Start" button, type a name for the object file in the space provided and click the "Save" button to open the recolor package. Click the "Plugin" tab followed by the "Texture Images (TXTR)" option beneath the "Resource Tree" heading.
Click on your object in the right panel and click the "Export" button. Click the "Save" button to save the image onto the computer's hard drive.
Open the image using your favorite image editor and recolor the image as you see fit. After you are finished recoloring the image, save the edited image.
Right-click on the original image in the SimPE window and select the "Build DXT..." option. Click the "Open" button, locate the edited image file on the computer's hard drive and double-click the file to select it.
Click the arrow to the right of the "Format" heading and select the "DXT1 Format" option. Click the "Build" button to build the recolored package. You can now place this recolored package into the game's "Downloads" folder to use the recolored connecting column arches.
