How to Calculate the Attack Speed in World of Warcraft

Blizzard's MMORPG (massively multi-player online role-playing game) World of Warcraft is set in a fantasy world where players control customized characters with different appearances and abilities. One ability that all characters have is the ability to use weapons. Calculating the attack speed of any character is done by first starting with the base rate attack speed of the weapon, then taking into account any and all upgrades the character has that affect attack speed.

  Locate the attack speed of the weapon you want to use by viewing the weapon's details in your inventory.

  Determine the power of any attack speed increases your character has activated. These increases are represented in percentages. For example, the Blade Furry spell has an attack speed increase of 40 percent.

  Divide the base weapon speed by the quantity of the product of all the weapon speed increases. For example, the Brutal Gladiator's Hacker has an attack speed of 1.50 and the character using the weapon has the Blade Furry and Slice and Dice spells activated. Blade Furry provides a 20 percent boost to attack speed and Slice and Dice provides a 40 percent boost to attack speed. Divide 1.50 by (1.2 * 1.4) to get the attack speed of .89 attacks per second.
