Secret Treasures in Oblivion

In the "Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion" game, players are offered a quest to find hidden treasure. The quest is found in Skingrad, which is a large city, southwest of the Imperial City in the region of Cyrodiil. To participate in the treasure quest, a player must first buy the house called Rosethorn Hall, one of the most expensive available in the game.
  1. Rosethorn Hall

    • To buy Rosethorn Hall and access the secret treasure quest, you must first contact Shum gro-Yarug, the Orc butler of Count Hassildor who rules Skingrad. You can either find him yourself by visiting the Castle Skingrad or the West Weald Inn. Alternately, you can ask the Count's other staff at the County Hall in the castle. This puts a quest marker in your game journal and directs you to Shum gro-Yarug. You then need to increase is disposition to at least 70 points. A character's disposition shows how much he likes you. You can use charm, bribes and personality to increase disposition. You also need to increase your "Fame" to at least 15 points before he will sell you the house. Fame points are obtained through heroism in other quests.

    Furnishings

    • As well as paying 25,000 septims for Rosethorn hall, you also need to completely furnish the house before you can complete the quest of buying it. To do this, you should visit the Colovian Traders where you can buy all the furniture you need for the all for a base price of 1,600 pieces of gold. You will need to haggle with Gunder, the proprietor, as every commercial transaction requires the player to do this. Once you have completed this transaction, you can embark on the Rosethorn Cache quest.

    The Rosethorn Cache

    • This collection of treasure was hidden in the house by a thief 200 years ago. It contains The Ring of the Gray and six gems: two sapphires, two emeralds and two diamonds. The Ring of the Gray gives the player 4,250 pieces of gold and strengthens the player's ability to resist poisons, and improves his marksmanship and acrobatics as well as his security. To start your quest for the treasure, look for the scroll called "The Long Forgotten Note," which you'll find in the loft bedroom above the stairs. You'll need to use your acrobatics skills to jump high enough to get the note, but once you've got it, you can look for the treasure.

    Treasure Hunt

    • The scroll gives the player the impression that the treasure is inside an hourglass somewhere in the house. However, it doesn't tell you where the hourglass is. Also, to add to the confusion, there are two hourglasses in the house, which you'll find in desks. Ignore these and go down to the basement, where you'll find it hidden in a wooden pillar with garlic hanging from it. You then need to activate the hourglass wedged in the struts at the top of the pillar to claim the treasure.
