What Do You Need to Get to Uber Tristram in Diablo 2?

Collecting Keys

• The first thing you need to do to enter Uber Tristram is to collect three sets of keys, used to open portals to three special locations. These keys are dropped by different enemies in "Hell" difficulty. The Countess, in Act One, drops the Key of Terror, while the Summoner, in Act Two, drops the Key of Hate and Nihlathak, in Act Five, drops the Key of Destruction. The keys all look identical and are only distinguished by the name you see when you hover over them. You will need three of each key to proceed to the next stage of the event.

Opening the Portals

• Create a new game in "Hell" difficulty and head to Harrogath, in Act Five. Place one of each key in your Horadric Cube and click the "Transmute" button. This will open a red-colored portal to one of three locations, selected at random. These three locations are the Matron's Den, the Forgotten Sands and the Furnace of Pain. Although which portal opens first is random, the portals won't repeat more than once in the same game, so creating three portals in the same game allows you to enter all three locations. Each of these locations contains a boss, and each of the bosses drops an item you need to proceed to the next stage of the event. Lilith, found in Matron's Den, drops Diablo's Horn, while Uber Duriel, found in the Forgotten Sands, drops Baal's Eye and Uber Izual, found in the Furnace of Pain, drops Mephisto's Brain.

Traveling to Uber Tristram

• Once you have obtained all three required items, travel back to Harrogath, place them in your Horadric Cube and click the "Transmute" button. This will open a red-colored portal to Uber Tristram. Like all red-colored portals, and unlike normal town portals, this portal will remain open no matter how many times you pass through it. This gives you an escape route should you need to head back to town to restock on healing and mana potions, since regular town portals don't work in Uber Tristram.

Considerations

• The bosses in Uber Tristram are much more powerful than their normal versions and may kill you very quickly if you are unprepared. If your character is not very high-level or doesn't have great gear, consider enlisting the help of friends or delaying your expedition to Uber Tristram until you are certain you can kill the bosses. If you already own a Hellfire Torch, you will be unable to pick up the new one once you kill the bosses. Enlist the help of a friend to hold your current Hellfire Torch while you are in Uber Tristram or to pick up the new one when it drops.
