How to Adjust the Dead Zone in DTR

DTR, or "Dead to Rights," is an action shooter game where you assume the role of Jack Slate, a cop who has been set up and must prove his innocence. On the computer version of the game, you may use an Xbox controller adapter instead of the default mouse and keyboard. The controller's analog stick may have a dead zone -- an area where movement of the stick is ignored by the game -- that may be too sensitive or not sensitive enough for your style. To adjust the dead zone of the controller, you can recalibrate it through the Game Controller window.

Instructions

    • 1

Click "Start" and select "Run." Type in "joy.cpl" in the run box and hit "Enter." This will open the Game Controllers window.

    • 2

Click "XNA Gamepad" in the Game Controllers menu and select "Properties," then click the "Settings" tab. Choose "Calibrate" from the menu.

    • 3

Follow the directions of the Calibration Wizard, using the analog stick instead of the D-Pad when prompted to do so.

    • 4

Click "Apply" and test the new calibration settings. Press "OK" to keep the new settings and exit the Wizard. If you are unsatisfied, click "Settings" and "Reset to Defaults" to begin the process again.
