How to Install Games on Ti84 Plus

Texas Instruments released the TI-84 Plus graphing calculator in 2004, yet it still prevails over most of the newer models in terms of popularity. In addition to enabling users to compute a variety of complex math problems, the TI-84 Plus can store several games. As stated on the Texas Instrument website, this is made possible by the addition of extra memory for greater storage capability and a USB port, which connects the calculator to a computer.

Instructions

    • 1

Go to the "Education" section of Texas Instrument's website (education.ti.com/educationportal/sites/US/productDetail/us_ti_connect.html). Download the free software labeled "TI Connect." After the download reaches completion, install the software onto your computer.

    • 2

Go to the TICalc.org website and download the ION software labelled "ion.zip." Create a folder on your desktop. Extract the downloaded files into this folder.

    • 3

Connect your TI-84 Plus calculator to your computer with the USB cord that came with it. The USB connecting port is a small hole located at the bottom-center of the calculator. Once the calculator is connected to your computer, turn it on.

    • 4

Select all the files in the desktop folder that contains your downloaded ION files. Right-click to view the file options. Select the option that says "Send to TI Device." To be certain that this was done correctly, push the "PRGM" button on the TI-84 Plus calculator. Execute the first file on the list, which is the ION file. A message should appear that says "ION installed."

    • 5

Push the yellow "MEM" button on the calculator. The "MEM" button is the same key as the addition symbol, but you will need to hit the "2nd" key before pressing it. Scroll down to "Mem Mgmnt/Del" and hit "Enter." Next, scroll down to "PRGM" and hit "Enter." You should see three programs that begin with the word "Ion." These are your downloaded files. Be sure that these three files are highlighted and then press "Enter." Afterward, there should be an asterisk next to the files.

Browse the games on the TICalc.org website or another website that offers games for the TI-84 Plus. Download and extract the games in the same way you did with the ION files. Select the files, right-click to view the options menu and select the "Send to TI Device" option.
