How to Make a Throwing Barb in D2

Creating a throwing Barbarian in "Diablo 2" (D2) is straightforward, but executing it well takes practice. You shouldn't use this character build if you're new to the game; it's difficult and there are easier, more effective builds out there. This build can certainly work well, but it will probably fall short in the higher-difficulty levels (Nightmare and Hell).

Instructions

    • 1

Start "Diablo 2" as you normally would.

    • 2

Select either "Single Player" or "Multiplayer" and create a new character. Select "Barbarian" as your class, name the character and decide whether or not you want to play in hardcore mode.

    • 3

Level your character until level 6; you can't put any points into throwing mastery until then. Put a single point into "Bash" and "Double Swing" as you're leveling. Save the rest of your skill points for later.

    • 4

Put points into "Throwing Mastery" in your "Combat Masteries" tree as you level up. Level nothing else until you've hit level 12. At this point, you can put a point into "Double Throw."

    • 5

Put points into "Throwing Mastery" and "Double Swing" past level 12, focusing exclusively on "Throwing Mastery" once you run out of extra skill points. "Throwing Mastery" maxes out at level 20, so when your Barbarian is level 26, you should be finished.

    • 6

Level "Double Swing" with every level until it's level 20; it increases the damage of "Double Throw." Once that is maxed, you can focus on a different set of skills if you like, or level "Double Throw" to increase your attack rating with throwing weapons. It is probably a good idea to deviate from the build slightly and put at least one point into the "Increased Stamina," "Increased Speed," "Iron Skin" and "Natural Resistance" skills as they become available.
