How to Get to Versus on StepMania

Disconnected or improperly mapped dance pads can disable the "Versus" selection in Stepmania. To fix this, insert two dance pads into the computer's USB slots and use Stepmania's "Options" menu to match the the dance pads' keys with the computer arrow keys. This causes Stepmania to recognize both dance pads, which enables you to select the "Versus" option.

Things You'll Need

Two Stepmania-compatible dance pads
Two USB converters
Computer keyboard

Instructions

  Connect both USB converters to the plugs attached to both dance pads. Connect the USB converters to the computer's USB slots. If the computer prompts you to install drivers, follow the directions on the computer screen to do so.

  Start Stepmania, then select "Options" with your computer keyboard's arrow keys. Select "Config Key/Joy".

  Move the cursor to the left column using your computer's arrow keys. On the left arrow option, press "Enter" on your computer keyboard. Press the left arrow on your first dance pad.

  Use the computer keyboard's arrows to move to the down arrow option. Press "Enter" and select the down arrow on the dance pad. Repeat this for the other arrows on the computer screen.

  Move the cursor to the right column. Using the second dance pad, assign the arrow keys on the computer screen by pressing the corresponding arrows on the dance pad.

  Go back to the left column. Use the computer keyboard arrows to place the cursor on the "Start" option, then press "Enter". Press the "Start" button on the dance pad.

  Move the cursor to the right column, and select the "Start" option. Press "Enter," and press the "Start" button on the second dance pad.

  Press "Start" on the second dance pad to advance it to the next screen. After the next screen loads, select "Versus".
