How to Use Pro Flight Emulator

Proflight Emulator Deluxe (PFE) is an air traffic control simulator. It essentially is an upgrade to ProFlight 2000 that allows you to use the program with flight planners, like FSX. The program aims to be an extremely realistic air traffic control experience. While it can be hard to pick up, once you have, you will be controlling air traffic like a pro. Simply make a plan of the flight, transfer it to the emulator and you're good to go.

Instructions

    • 1

Create a flight plan on ProFlight Emulator using FSX FlightPlanner.

    • 2

Select a departure airport and runway, and then choose the same for your destination.

    • 3

Pick a cruise altitude. This should be able to clear obstacles on route.

    • 4

Choose a route you would like to take.

    • 5

Place two or three waypoints upon your approach to the destination, making the final one to 4,000 feet.

    • 6

      Generate the flight plan.

    • 7

Open the "ConvertFS9FP.exe" tool to convert the flight plans. This will turn the flight plan into the FS2000 format, which is compatible with ProFlight 2000.

    • 8

Select the source file for the conversion. This is the flight plan from FSX FlightPlanner, so choose the location where the saved files are stored. This usually is "C:\Documents and Settings\Your Name\My Documents\Flight Simulator," or "...\Flight Simulator FSX."

    • 9

Select the target of the conversion, which is the folder that flight plans are selected from in ProFlight. This usually is the "PFE\FS2000\Pilots" folder, wherever you installed the program.

    • 10

Load the flight plan in ProFlight 2000 that you have created in FSX FlightPlanner. This is found in the "PFE\FS2000\Pilots" folder from the previous step. Choose "Compile" to make the flight plan compatible with ProFlight Emulator.

    • 11

Close ProFlight 2000 and FSX FlightPlanner.

    • 12

Click on "Select New ADV" in the main menu and choose the flight file that you just added. Select "Load."

    • 13

      Open FS and FSX FlightPlanner.

    • 14

Load the flight plan in FSX FlightPlanner that you created in this program. It isn't necessary, but it will give you something to refer to in the flight to make sure you stay on course. Answer "Yes" when asked if you want to move to the departure airport.

    • 15

Select "Add-on" in FS and choose "Start PFE" from the menu. Alternatively, choose "Connect to FS" in the preflight Emulator main menu. Sit back and enjoy your flight plan in action.
