How to Open the Locket Watch on Nancy Drew: the Secret of Shadow Ranch

Place the mouse pointer over the locket watch and left click when you see the magnifying glass icon. Follow the chain down to the pointed end. Click on the point to open the watch. Note the initials "M. H." on the inside of the watch. Place the mouse pointer over the watch face and left click when the magnifying glass icon appears again.

Look around the watch face to see several raised buttons. The buttons can be found at the 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12 positions. Click on each one of these buttons until one stays down. The button that stays down is the first one in the sequence. Remember this button number.

Press another button, with the first button already pressed down. If both buttons pop back up, the button you just pressed isn't second in the sequence. Press the first button again and then try a different button for the second one. Work through the buttons in this trail-and-error system to find the correct second position button. Remember this number. Two number buttons will now be pressed down.

Left click another button after you have two pressed down. This works in the same way as the previous button. If the choice is incorrect, all of the buttons will pop back up, and if it is correct, the new button will stay pressed down.

Press a fourth button. Choose one of the three remaining numbers when you have three of the buttons pressed down. Remember the sequence, or write it down so that you don't have to go through the process again. If the button stays pushed down, you can move onto the next button. If they all pop up, input the first three numbers and try a different fourth button.

Select a fifth button from the two options remaining. If you get this one correct, you only have to press the remaining button to complete the puzzle and open the watch face. If you get it wrong, you will still know the correct order. Press the buttons in sequence to unlock the locket watch. The clock face will open automatically.
