How to Use USB Rumble Pads

Playing video games is a fun way to pass the time. However, it can be jarring when switching between console games, such as those on the PS3 or Xbox, to computer games. This is because console games use a control pad and computer games primarily use the keyboard. However, many people connect USB controllers to their computers in order to play games. Many of these controllers connect via your USB port and contain a rumble pack, which makes the controller vibrate during more action-packed parts of the gameplay.

Instructions

    • 1

Insert the software disc that came with your controller and follow the prompts on screen to install the software (driver) that allows the computer to sync with the controller. If you don't have the disc, you can download controller drivers for free online.

    • 2

Plug the end of the USB cable that runs from the controller into the USB port on your computer. If your rumble pad controller is wireless, proceed to the next step.

    • 3

Plug the USB controller receiver into a USB port on your computer. Press the "Power" button on the front or top of the controller to turn it on.

    • 4

Insert a game disc into your computer and begin a new game.

    • 5

Use the controller instead of the mouse or keyboard. Use the directional pad, analog sticks and action buttons to control the actions on screen. When damage occurs to your character or when other particular actions happen, the controller will vibrate along with the gameplay.
