How to Open the Safe in the Sword Shop in The Secret of Monkey Island

Opening the shopkeeper's safe in "The Secret of Monkey Island" is nearly impossible if you're not paying attention. The game will test your observational skills before allowing you to obtain the reward inside. When you enter the shop, you'll soon need money to purchase a vessel for your trip to Monkey Island. The credit slip inside the shopkeeper's safe is the perfect opportunity to improve your financial situation. If you've got a keen eye, you'll be able to loot the safe and continue your adventure.

  Speak with the storekeeper, telling him you would like a note of credit. Keep a close watch as he opens the safe because you'll need to remember the combination. Write down the numbers, if necessary.

  Choose any answer when the storekeeper asks about your job. He will decline to give credit and return the note to the safe. Watch the combination again to make sure you've got it right.

  Ask the storekeeper to go see the Sword Master. He will exit, and you'll have a chance to open the safe. Enter the combination by pushing the handle to move it clockwise and pulling to move it counterclockwise. Open the safe to find a credit note for up to 5000 pieces of eight.
