On Sims 3 I Moved Someone Out the House & Now I Can't Play as Him

It can be quite frustrating to get attached to a "Sims 3" character, move him out of the house and then not be able to play them again. With the introduction of the "Generations" expansion pack, switching households is done in a different way, which can frustrate and confuse players both old and new.
  1. Moving a Sim Out of the House

    • When your Sim is ready to leave the household and move out on his own, the process is quite simple. You can select the "Move" option from either the computer or any phone. A screen will come up prompting you to choose which Sim to move. You can choose to kick him out or move him into another property.

    Switching to Edit Town Mode

    • After the move is complete, you have to switch households in order to play that Sim. Click on the small icon on the left-hand side of the screen with three dots in order to get into the main menu. There will be an option for "Edit Town" within the menu -- choose that option.

    Switching to a New Household

    • Once in "Edit Town" mode, click on the household that you wish to switch to. At this point you have options to modify the family further, such as evicting or splitting up the household. To play this household, select "Switch to this Household."

    Checking the Sim Bin

    • If when you moved your Sim out, you selected "Kick out" instead of choosing a home, your Sim will either have found a nearby home and moved in there, or he will be found in your Sim bin. If you don't see him in a house, check the bin. In "Edit Town" Mode, you can "Change Active Household," select the appropriate Sim from the bin, and move him into a house to play him.
