How to Make Your Own Mods on Sins of a Solar Empire

"Sins of a Solar Empire" is an RTS, or real-time strategy, game that allows users to make their own mods, or modifications. It is possible to mod maps, particle effects and executable files. Within maps, users can place planets, stars, asteroids and wormholes, all of which are connectable with phase lanes, which allow game units to travel between different locations. The latest patch, or newest version, of "Sins of a Solar Empire" is required to make mods.

Instructions

  Download and install the latest patch of the game to your computer. Download and install "Galaxy Forge," a software program provided online for free by Ironclad Games, the maker of "Sins of a Solar Empire," that allows you to create map mods. Use the point and click interface to mod maps.

  Download and install "Particle Forge," which is similar to "Galaxy Forge," but intended instead for particle effects mods. Use the point and click interface to mod particle effects and weapon's effects.

  Download and install "Developer Builds" for executable files. Use the point and click interface to mod executable files for mod packs, which are bundles of mods you create and share by uploading them to the Internet.

  Download and install "Forge Tools" and "Map Conversion" for additional reference data and documentation related to modding and to convert maps between different versions of the game.
