How to Install The Sims File Cop

"The Sims" File Cop is a free utility published by Maxis in for its popular series, "The Sims." The program searches for damaged or corrupted object files that could potentially cause the game to freeze, crash or run improperly. The program is free to download and use. "The Sims" File Cop is only compatible with the original game and cannot be used with "The Sims 2" or "The Sims 3."

Instructions

  Download "The Sims" File Cop (see "Resources"). Save the file to a location of your choice on your computer's hard drive.

  Double-click on the installation file. The installation wizard will launch.

  Click "Next." Choose a folder to install the program to by pressing "Browse," or leave the installation folder as its default: C:/Programs Files/Maxis/The Sims File Cop

  Click "Next" and type a name for the "Start" menu folder. Hit "Next" to proceed.

  Wait for the program to install then click the "Finish" button. "The Sims" File Cop will now be installed on your computer.
