How to Modify the Texture in Combat Arms

"Combat Arms" is an online first-person shooter for the PC that allows for some degree of customization in the textures that players use. To modify the textures, you'll need the assistance of a couple of modding programs designed for "Combat Arms" and a photo-editing program. By modifying the game's textures, you can customize the look of the weapons you use and, if you want, can eventually share the customized files with other "Combat Arms" players.

Instructions

    • 1

Start RezXtract and click "File" from the top toolbar. A list of options will appear. Click "Open" to bring up a standard Windows Explorer window.

    • 2

Locate your "Combat Arms" folder, which is stored in the "Program Files" folder by default, and double-click the folder of the gun you would like to mod. Each of the guns are listed in separate folders in the game's directory. The files will be extracted from the folder into a new folder with the name of the weapon with the extension .rez in the folder name.

    • 3

Start DTXConvert and click "File" and then "Open" from the top toolbar. A window with your computer's folders will be displayed.

    • 4

Locate the new .rez folder you created and click one of the image files in the folder. The option will become selected, so click the "Convert to Lith Tech" radio button on the right-side of the screen and then click "OK" to begin converting the file. The location of the converted file will be displayed.

    • 5

Open the converted file in the photo-editing program of your choice. Any program from Paint to Adobe Photoshop will be sufficient.

    • 6

Modify the picture anyway you like. You can change the color of the weapon or add a smiley-file to the stock of the weapon.

    • 7

Click the "Save as" option from the "File" menu at the top of the screen. A Windows Explorer window will appear. Click the "DTX" format from the "Save as file type" option, and then click "Save."

    • 8

Open the file again in DTXConvert except click the "Convert to Nexon" radio button. Click "OK" to convert the file.

    • 9

Start RezInject and click on the file that you recently converted. A new window will appear asking you where to inject the file.

    • 10

Inject the file into the original folder of the gun file from which you took the texture. The next time you load the game, the modified texture will be loaded.
