How to Get to the Pitt in Fallout 3

"Fallout 3" is a post-apocalyptic video that combines elements of role-playing with first-person shooting. In addition to the main campaign, players can download expansions to explore new cities and regions. The Pitt is the "Fallout 3" vision of Pittsburgh after the war. It's rife with mutants, raiders and slaves. Once the player downloads the expansion, he'll receive a radio distress call from a resident of The Pitt. The player can then meet this individual and join him on an adventure to free the slaves of post-apocalyptic Pittsburgh.

Instructions

  Start "Fallout 3." Select "Downloads" from the main menu, then select "The Pitt." Download it to activate the expansion.

  Load a prior save or start a new game. Wander around for a few minutes. At random, you'll receive the radio distress call that starts this quest.

  Open your Pipboy and select "Into The Pitt" as your main quest. Look at the world map. You'll see a marker in the far northern reaches of the wastes. This is where the distress call is originating.

  Quick travel to the location closest to the marker. If you've been playing "Fallout 3" for a while, you might have already discovered the SatCom Array NN-03d. This is as close as you can get via quick travel.

  Walk the rest of the way on foot, using the marker as your guide through the wastes. When you arrive at the radio tower, you'll find a slave fighting off two raiders. Help him defeat them or stand back and do nothing. Both options lead to the same result. The slave will win and run over to you.

  Speak with the slave to find out his name, Werner, and his quest. He'll ask you to free the slaves of The Pitt. To get there, though, you need to disguise yourself as a slave first. You can get a slave disguise from some raiders to the west.

  Head west and enter the train tunnel. Inside, you'll find some slavers. Either kill them all or tell them that you're a slave trader and you'd like to buy their slaves. Afterward, enter the slave den and speak with the slaves. They'll thank you for freeing them and as a reward give you a slave disguise.

  Return to the train tunnel and click on the hand cart. It will take you to The Pitt.
