Live Alone
Since the teen characters in "The Sims 2" are capable of taking care of themselves, they are allowed to live alone if their parents die. Unlike younger children, who would be removed from the home by the game's social services in the absence of a parent, the teens are left alone to continue on with their lives. The house maintains the same functionality as it did when the parents were alive in the game.
School
Even after the parents have died, your teen Sims must still go to school. While not going to school has no bearing on your Sim's ability to work when he grows up, his performance in school does have an impact on his happiness at the next stage of life. The life meter and length of life depends on the success of the Sim at the previous stage. For instance, a Sim that finishes his time as a teen successfully is a better adjusted adult and stands a better chance of living longer as an elderly Sim.
Income
One of the downsides of a teen Sim who has lost her parents is income. Teen Sims are able to work in the game, but their jobs do not pay as much. Therefore, you may need to use cheat codes to earn money to survive. For the most part, a Sim does not require much money. She mostly needs money to be able to eat so she does not die as well. However, if you have the University expansion pack and your Sim is at college, she can work as a tutor or in the cafeteria. College Sims also get a living stipend.
Ghosts
When Sims die within the home, their ghosts haunt the home in "The Sims 2." Depending on the personality of your teen Sim, this can be a dangerous fact. Some Sims are terrified of ghosts and can be literally scared to death by one. The dead parents of a teen Sim will haunt the house and run the risk of scaring the teen. There is very little that can be done about ghosts except to do your best to avoid them.
