How to Be a Werewolf in Oblivion

"Oblivion" is the title of "Elder Scrolls IV," developed by Bethesda Game Studios. Previous entires in the series allowed character transformation into werewolves following infection of a werewolf-transmitted virus, contracted while fighting a werewolf. The werewolf character variant is not included in the released version of Oblivion. The user-built game modification, or "mod," known as "The Curse of Hircine" is freely available for download for PC-based "Oblivion" installations. The Hircine game mod adds werewolves to "Oblivion," allowing players to fight, be bitten and become werewolves following viral infection.

Instructions

    • 1

Install "The Curse of Hircine" game mod.

    • 2

Start the Oblivion game -- it is not necessary to create a new game once the game mod is installed -- and wander around the main map at night. Werewolves will not appear in town.

    • 3

Engage the werewolf in a fight. Allow the werewolf to repeatedly attack you until you contract the "Sanies Lupinus" virus. Kill the werewolf or leave the fight.

    • 4

Wait three game days to allow the virus to fully incubate and turn you into a werewolf when the moon is full.

    • 5

Interact with the game as a werewolf. Werewolves are stronger, faster, and longer lasting in a fight, but do not use weapons or armor. Most computer-generated game characters, such as guards and common folk, attack werewolves on sight. Avoid being seen during transformation, or the game characters will report your true nature to the guards. If your true nature is reported, waiting 15 days without contacting civilization results in the computer-generated characters' "forgetting" you are a werewolf.

    • 6

Feed on corpses to maintain high will power. Failure to feed, as a werewolf, creates penalties resulting in loss of key attributes until you feed again. To feed, press the "B" key on th keyboard when the werewolf is standing near a corpse. If the corpse cannot be fed upon, the werewolf howls at the moon.

    • 7

Press the "C" button on the keyboard to toggle night vision. Night vision, as a werewolf, enables you to see greater detail at a longer range.
