How to Get Tattoos in Sims 3 Without Creating a Sim

Tattoos became available in "The Sims 3" base game with update 1.12, released May 28, 2010. This base game update coincided with the release of "The Sims 3: Ambitions" expansion pack and gives you the ability to add tattoos to Sims you make with the "Create-a-Sim" tool. To add tattoos outside of the "Create-a-Sim" tool, you must install the "Ambitions" expansion pack to gain access to the downtown salon, the tattoo equipment and the tattoo artist skill.

Instructions

  Start "The Sims 3" and click the household that contains the Sim you want to have for a tattoo.

  Click that Sim to make him the active Sim.

  Click the "Map" icon on the game control panel.

  Click the "Salon" icon and choose the command "Visit" to send your Sim to the salon.

  Click on the map in the area of the salon to zoom in on the activity.

  Click the tattoo chair in the basement of the salon, and choose the command "Get Tattoo From...." A dialogue box will open showing the name and picture of the tattoo artist working at the salon. Highlight the artist's name and click the check mark icon to confirm.

  Click the tattoo artist himself and choose the command "Remove Tattoos" if you want to erase a Sim tattoo instead of getting one.
