How to Create Custom Pet Fur Colors in Sims 2

"The Sims 2: Pets" expansion pack adds the ability to give your Sims a dog or cat as a pet companion. Pets in the "The Sims 2" are treated like a member of the family, allowing players to completely customize the look of their pets in Create-a-Family mode. Selecting the color of a pet's fur is one of the many customization options available to players. The customization tools in "The Sims 2: Pets" also allow players to add fur patterns such as stripes, spots or calico designs.

  Enter Create-A-Family mode and choose whether you would like to create a dog or cat.

  Select a breed for your pet from the available options. Each breed has its own set of fur colors. Select the base fur color for your pet.

  Press the plus button on the side of the screen to add a new layer to your pet's fur to customize your pet's fur coloring. Each layer adds a new swatch of color to your pet's fur. Select which type of marking you would like, such as spots or stripes, and use the color selection tool to select a fur color for that marking.

  Press the minus button on the side of the screen to delete any layers and remove colors from your pet's fur.

  Save your pet when you are satisfied with your results. Save the dog as a breed to reuse the same design for other pets.
