How to Run World of Warcraft With the Command Prompt

Running a program on your computer from the command prompt is similar to executing a file on the old MS-DOS operating system. Instead of using your mouse to navigate through folders and click on shortcut icons, you use your keyboard to enter the specific location of the file to open. You can open any program on your computer from the command prompt, even Blizzard Entertainment's "World of Warcraft."

Instructions

    • 1

Right-click on the "World of Warcraft" shortcut icon on your desktop. Click "Properties." Use your mouse to highlight all of the words in the "Target" box. Right-click on the highlighted target and click "Copy." Close the "Properties" window for the shortcut.

    • 2

      Click "Start."

    • 3

Open a command prompt window by typing "CMD" into "Search" and clicking on the CMD icon.

    • 4

Type "START" (without quotation marks) into the command prompt.

    • 5

Type two empty quotation marks (" ") into the command prompt. Type a space. Press the "CTRL" and "V" keys on your keyboard simultaneously to paste the text you copied from "Step 1" into the command prompt. Type a space and type "/wait" (without quotes). A phrase similar to "START " " [Warcraft icon location] /wait" should be entered into your command prompt.
