Couples Computer Games

Video games are an indelible part of our digital culture. So when two people start dating, one of them might have a fondness for video games. Sometimes it's more than fondness, and hard-core gamers can alienate their partners. Titles such as the "Call of Duty" series, a game overwhelmingly favored by men, have been shown to put a strain on relationships because women feel left out of the fun. However, some PC titles can strengthen or spice up your relationship.
  1. Games Can Be Good for Your Relationship

    • PC games can reinforce all the things that experts say make for a healthy relationship: staying involved with one another, communicating, handling conflicts and keeping outside interests alive. The simplest way for couples to connect or reconnect is to commit to spending time together, by doing things they both enjoy and finding new activities to do together. PC games can do both by offering couples a chance to find new games to play, or to set aside time for old favorites. Choosing the best PC game for you and your partner depends on the nature of your relationship.

    Domestic Darlings: The Sims

    • "The Sims" franchises are the best games on the market for playing house. When the original "Sims" came out in 2001, it became the best-selling video game of all time thanks to support from an overlooked gaming demographic: women. Design a home, manage a family or get into mischief; "the Sims" provides a vibrant, engaging gaming experience for all. Play together or create separate characters; either way, it will bring you closer as you live out those "What if?" questions.

Partners in Crime: World of Warcraft

    • "World of Warcraft" doesn't scream romance with all the swordplay and monsters and dungeons. But there are plenty of stories about couples who met online in "WoW" and now spend real time side-by-side immersed in the world of Azeroth. Meeting other real people in-game as you play adds a social element that offline games lack. So, if your partner sometimes feels more like a friend than a lover, then "WoW" will be a way to goof around.

    Hot and Heavy: Bliss

    • "Bliss" is an adults-only PC game styled like a board game. It asks partners to answer questions about each other en route to performing naughty tasks. Players develop property a la "Monopoly," but with erotic results. Massage parlors and strip clubs replace houses and hotels. The actions undertaken by your partner are relevant to your passion level, a 1-10 rating you choose based on how aroused you feel. Lower passion levels result in tamer actions at first, but the hotter you get, the hotter the action gets until ... well, you know the rest.
