How to Play The Simpsons Game of Life

"The Simpsons Game of Life" is a 2004 board game manufactured by Hasbro that can make for hours of fun with friends and family. The object of the game is to acquire the most money and Life titles, while completing tasks and overcoming obstacles that you come across. These can include everything from taking an orange eating class to completing a self-defense funk dance class.

Instructions

    • 1

Get together two to six players, ages 9 and older, that have a minimum of one hour available to play the game. The game can be played with four to five players, but six people make for ultimate game play.

    • 2

Appoint one player as the banker in charge of all the money. The banker handles all the incoming and outgoing money, and also provides each player with a start capital of $10,000.

    • 3

Choose one of the six car colors that will identify you on the board, and place a people-peg into the car. Have your fellow players do the same. People-pegs identify how many people are in your family. Players can acquire family members over the course of the game.

    • 4

Decide who takes the first turn by spinning the spinner. Whichever player spins the highest number takes the first turn.

    • 5

Start your turn by choosing between a career or an education. This will decide the direction you will travel in. Choosing an education will put you in debt, but give you a more promising career and salary. A job will give you an instant salary.

    • 6

Draw a career card and a salary card by having a fellow player fan out the cards. Only do this if you choose to go the career path.

    • 7

Place both the salary and career card in front of you for all other players to see.

    • 8

Borrow $100,000 from the bank if you chose to get an education. This amount will have to be paid back with $5,000 interest, upon retirement.

    • 9

Spin the spinner to make your first move. If the spinner lands between numbers, players can spin again.

    • 10

Move your car the number of spaces that the spinner landed on. If a space already has another player on it, move to the next space.

    • 11

Follow the instructions of the space that you land on. Orange spaces tell you what you have to do. Blue spaces give instructions that are optional to follow. Green spaces provide you with a payday from the bank, whether you land on them or just pass them. Red spaces are mandatory stopping points with mandatory instruction, whether you still have moves left or not. Life spaces allow players to take one life card which will remain unseen until the end of the game.

    • 12

Retire when you land or pass the retirement space on the board. Only retire when you believe to have made the most money.

    • 13

Count your money when all players have retired. The player with the most money gets rewarded with four life cards.

    • 14

Turn over all life cards and add them to the amount of money each player made during the game. The player with the most money wins the game.
