List of Monopoly Games

Charles Darrow, an unemployed engineer, brought his idea for a property trading board game to Parker Brothers in 1935. The company originally rejected the game but ended up giving the concept a second look. Soon after, Monopoly as we know it was born. Since its debut, the Monopoly family has grown to encompass numerous variations. New editions of the game come out regularly, incorporating electronic banking, pop culture references and new game play concepts.
  1. Monopoly Brand Electronic Banking Edition

    • Monopoly Brand Electronic Banking Edition is the classic monopoly game but with electronic debit cards to buy properties, collect rent and pay fines. It also includes a new set of modern tokens; for example, it replaces the battleship with a space shuttle and exchanges the top hat for a baseball cap, and the dog figurine comes in a handbag. This game is recommended for players eight years of age and older.

    Monopoly City

    • If your child likes to create buildings with blocks or manage virtual cities, this is the edition for her. Monopoly City players create schools, skyscrapers, stadiums and more. This game is recommended for players eight years of age and older.

    Monopoly Championship Edition

    • This version can turn family game night into a multiple-round tournament. In this edition, games are timed. When time runs out, points are awarded to players based on the properties they own and their bankroll. A special die is also included. It speeds up game play by allowing players to move directly to the next unowned property or add spaces to their original throw. This game is recommended for players eight years of age and older.

    Monopoly Here &Now World Edition

    • Replace the original property names with exotic locations from around the world and you get the Monopoly Here &Now World Edition. You'll also notice some serious rent inflation. Instead of hundreds of dollars, you're dealing with millions. A debit card system keeps track of your cash and quickens game play. This game is recommended for players eight years of age and older.

    Monopoly Junior

    • Designed with younger players in mind, Monopoly Junior uses an amusement park as its backdrop and aims to improve basic math skills. Disney and Disney Princess theme editions of this game are also available. This game is recommended for children five to eight years of age.

    Monopoly Theme Editions

    • Hasbro makes special versions of Monopoly featuring popular movies and television shows. Game play remains the same, but the original Atlantic City-inspired properties and game tokens are changed to fit the theme. If you're a fan of "The Simpsons," Disney movies, "SpongeBob SquarePants," "The Littlest Pet Shop," "Star Wars," "The Transformers" or "Scooby Doo," there's an edition made especially for you. Theme editions of Monopoly are recommended for players eight years of age and older unless noted otherwise.
