The Basics:
* Goal: Be the first player to get all four of your pawns to the finish line.
* Players: 2-4 players
* Board: The board is a circular track with numbered spaces, a "Start" space, and a "Finish" space.
* Pawns: Each player has four pawns, colored to match their player color.
* Cards: There are 40 cards in the deck, with various actions like "Move 1 space," "Move 4 spaces," "Slide," "Sorry!" and more.
Game Setup:
1. Shuffle the cards: Place the deck face down in the center of the board.
2. Start: Each player places all four pawns in their starting space.
3. First Player: The first player is chosen randomly or determined by a rule of your choosing.
Gameplay:
1. Draw a card: On your turn, draw the top card from the deck and follow the instructions on the card.
2. Move your pawn:
* Forward: If your card tells you to move forward, count the number of spaces on the track and move your pawn accordingly.
* Backwards: Some cards tell you to move backward. If this happens, move your pawn backwards around the track.
* Special Actions: Some cards have special actions like:
* Slide: Move your pawn forward to the next space of the same color.
* Sorry! Send another player's pawn back to their starting space.
* Swap: Exchange the positions of your pawn and another player's pawn.
3. Finish Line: If you land on the Finish Line with a pawn, remove it from the board.
4. Winning: The first player to get all four pawns to the Finish Line wins the game!
Key Rules:
* Overlapping Spaces: You can only have one pawn on a space at a time. If you land on a space occupied by another player's pawn, you must send that pawn back to their starting space.
* "Sorry!" Card: If you draw the "Sorry!" card, you can choose any player to send back to their starting space. You can even send your own pawn back!
* "Go Back 1 Space" Card: If you draw a "Go Back 1 Space" card, you must move your pawn back one space.
* "Slide" Card: You can only slide to the next space of the same color. If there is another player's pawn on that space, you cannot slide.
Tips and Strategies:
* Try to get your pawns to the "home stretch" early: The spaces between the "Start" space and the "Finish Line" are much shorter, so it's easier to get your pawns to the finish line quickly.
* Use the "Sorry!" card strategically: Don't just send any player back to their starting space! Try to target players who are close to the finish line.
* Be careful of the "Go Back 1 Space" card: This card can really set you back, so try to avoid drawing it.
* Be aware of where the other players are: Try to anticipate their moves and make your moves accordingly.
Have fun and good luck!
