Objective: Capture the enemy's flag while protecting your own.
Setup:
* Players: Two players.
* Board: A 10x10 grid with 100 squares.
* Pieces: Each player gets 40 pieces, representing different ranks of military units.
* Placement: Players secretly arrange their pieces on their side of the board, following specific restrictions.
* Placement Rules:
* Flag: Must be placed on one of the 4 corner squares.
* Bomb: Must be placed on one of the 6 squares next to the flag.
* Marshal: Must be placed on a square adjacent to the flag, but not on the same row or column.
* Other pieces: Can be placed anywhere else on the board.
Gameplay:
1. Turn order: Players take turns moving one piece.
2. Moving pieces: Players can move their pieces one square horizontally or vertically.
3. Attacking: When a piece lands on a square occupied by an enemy piece, they engage in combat.
4. Combat: The outcome of combat is determined by the rank of the pieces involved.
5. Rank Hierarchy (from strongest to weakest):
* Marshal: Beats all other pieces except the Mine.
* General: Beats all pieces except Marshal, Mine, and Bomb.
* Colonel: Beats all pieces except Marshal, General, Mine, and Bomb.
* Major: Beats all pieces except Marshal, General, Colonel, Mine, and Bomb.
* Captain: Beats all pieces except Marshal, General, Colonel, Major, Mine, and Bomb.
* Lieutenant: Beats all pieces except Marshal, General, Colonel, Major, Captain, Mine, and Bomb.
* Sergeant: Beats all pieces except Marshal, General, Colonel, Major, Captain, Lieutenant, Mine, and Bomb.
* Miner: Beats the Bomb.
* Scout: Beats all pieces except the Flag, but can only move diagonally.
* Spy: Beats the Marshal, but is beaten by all other pieces.
* Bomb: Beats the Marshal and Mine.
* Flag: Beaten by all pieces except the Spy.
6. Outcomes:
* Attacker wins: The attacking piece captures the defending piece.
* Defender wins: The attacking piece is captured.
* Draw: If both pieces have the same rank, both pieces are captured.
7. Captured pieces: Captured pieces are removed from the board and are no longer playable.
8. Winning:
* Capturing the enemy's flag: The player who captures the enemy's flag wins.
* Trapping the enemy's flag: If the enemy cannot move their flag, you win.
Additional Rules:
* No retreat: Once a piece has moved, it cannot be moved back to its original position.
* Visibility: Players can only see their own pieces and the pieces in adjacent squares.
* No communication: Players are not allowed to communicate with each other about their piece placements.
* Game variations: There are several variations of the game, including different board sizes, piece numbers, and rank hierarchies.
Tips:
* Strategic placement: Place your pieces strategically to defend your flag and attack your opponent's.
