Chess Shirt Ideas

Celebrate your chess club membership by wearing matching shirts during competitions with other schools. Chess club is often an optional extracurricular activity that can lead to scholarships and prizes through winning. Contract with a silk-screening company to draw up your one-of-a-kind design in the colors and style of your choice, so the shirts are custom-made for the school. Once you have your shirts, wear them together at competitions as a way to intimidate the other chess clubs.
  1. Major Players

    • Design a shirt that shows off the major players in the game of chess -- the king, queen, knight and rook. Draw the pieces so they each have a "game face" on the front of them. Add competitive words underneath such as "Bring on the Pawn" or "My Queen will get Your Queen." Insert the name of your chess team and your school either underneath the competitive wording or on the back of the shirt.

    Single Piece Shirt

    • Pick a solid color shirt in a school color and have either a large image of the king piece or queen piece on the front. The shirt look works well for teams that are either all male or all female. Under the chess piece write, "The Queens of XYZ High School Chess Team" or the "King Pawns of ABC College."

    Simple Wording

    • Skip the picture and go with wording only. Simple wording may be more effective, less expensive to print and available to re-use year after year. Wording can contain just the school and chess club name, such as "South High Elite Chess Club" or "Times College Chess Champions." Other wording that is more competitive can include "Our Crushing Moves will Crush You" and "Got Chess?" Print the wording on a solid T-shirt in one of the school colors.

    Full Game Shirt

    • Print the entire collection of chess pieces on the front of the shirt -- king, queen, rook, bishop, knight and pawn. Under the chess pieces write, "Chess Players Know How To Mate" or "Choose Your Weapon." Print the chess pieces in white or use a coordinating school color such as blue pieces on an orange shirt for school colors.
