When does jigsaw die?

John Kramer, the character known as Jigsaw, dies at the end of the movie *Saw VI* (2009).

He is killed by his former apprentice, Hoffman, who had been manipulating events throughout the series. Hoffman shoots Jigsaw, who collapses and dies. This death marks the end of Jigsaw's direct involvement in the Saw franchise.

However, Hoffman continues the "game" in *Saw VII*, but ultimately meets his demise in *Saw 3D* (2010).
