Fun Places for 5-Year-Olds to Play Around

Although every child's development is different, when a child is five years old, it's generally a time when he starts to make friends, uses his imagination and his athletic abilities begin to show. Kids of this age look for active games and want to know more about how things work. Since this is a developmental stage, its important that you take your five-year-old to a place where he can play around and discover all of his abilities.
  1. Parks

    • Five-year-olds can have fun playing in different kinds of parks -- from neighborhood parks to amusement parks. Aside from a playground, some neighborhood parks have multi-purpose fields, walking and biking paths, open space and picnic areas where kids can play around. Some amusement parks have special areas for your children where they can play in a water-splash area, swim in a kiddie pool, play miniature golf or climb, play and run in a themed play area.

    Indoor Amusement Centers

    • When the weather isn't nice enough to play outside, take your five-year-old to an indoor venue. One of the places where you can take your child is to an inflatables venue. Kids can play on giant inflatable structures such as slides, bounce houses and obstacle courses. Five-year-olds can play in a class in a gym for kids where they can take gymnastics, dance classes or fitness programs. Another place where you can take your children is to an indoor children's playground, where they can play around with soft play equipment and toys.

    Childrens' Museums

    • Childrens' museums are found across the United States. Not only do these museums offer kids the chance to explore but to have fun too. Some childrens' museums have different kinds of hands-on, educational exhibits and attractions. A museum may have an outdoor play space where your five-year-old can dig for dinosaur bones, play with water or look for insects. Other attractions might include an area where kids can climb on large structures, such as a tree house, or join a scavenger hunt.

    Beaches

    • Spend a sunny day in the beach with your five-year-old and have fun enjoying different kinds of activities. You and your child can have a good time building sand castles or wading in the water. If it's a swimming beach, you can take your child for a swim. Other activities that five-year-olds can do in the beach are going for a boat ride, being buried in the sand, playing catch with a beach ball, drawing pictures in the sand and looking for shells.
