Doughnut Crafts
For a basic doughnut craft, give each child a doughnut-coloring page. Have him decorate the doughnut using markers and crayons. Children can draw sprinkles, chocolate glaze, sugar crystals and designs on the doughnuts. For an edible craft, give each kid a glazed doughnut and let him decorate the doughnut. Children can use sprinkles, frosting, doughnut glaze, sugar crystals and chocolate glaze to decorate the doughnuts.
Easy Activities
Print pictures of doughnuts and hide them around the play area. Give the children a paper sack and have them hunt for as many doughnuts as they can find. The child who finds the most doughnuts wins the game. For another version, hide different-colored doughnuts and call out one color at a time. The first child who finds that color doughnut wins a small prize. For added fun, write "Blueberry" on blue doughnuts, "Strawberry" on pink doughnuts and "Chocolate" on brown doughnuts. Call out a flavor instead of a color.
Doughnut-Themed Games
Draw or print pictures of doughnuts on sheets of paper. Write a flavor on each doughnut picture and place the pictures in a circle on the floor. Write the same flavors on slips of paper and place them in a cup. Play music and have the children walk around the pictures. When the music stops, each player must stand on a doughnut. Call out a flavor and the player standing on that picture wins a prize. For another game, put a twist on the classic game "Hot Potato" by playing a game of "Hot Doughnut," using a plastic doughnut. The last player remaining in the game wins a prize.
Eating Activities
Hang several ring doughnuts from string. Be sure to place each doughnut at the mouth height of each player. When you say "Eat," players must place their hands behind the back and eat the doughnut from the string. The first player to finish wins the game. For a messier game, place one doughnut on a paper plate for each player and cover it with whipped cream. When you say "Eat," the players must eat the doughnut while their hands are behind their back. The first player to finish eating the doughnut wins the game.
