Board Games
Board games are an enjoyable way of teaching kids language, math and problem-solving skills. Playing Disney-themed versions of well-known board games, such as Clue and Monopoly, is also a good way of spending time together as a family. In Clue: The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, a storm cuts out the power at the Hollywood Tower Hotel and contestants must follow clues to discover which movie star is missing, which prop they have and which room they were in. The Disney Monopoly edition includes characters such as Cinderella, Dumbo, Pinocchio and Snow White, and players can buy the rights to several Disney movies, including Lady and the Tramp, WALL-E, The Lion King and the Chronicles of Narnia. Other board games with Disney editions include the Game of Life, Guess Who and Trouble.
Card Games
For kids who love to play card games, there are also various Disney-themed products. Based on the classic card game, Mattel's Disney Princess UNO features fairytale characters and a unique "Dragon" card that requires each player to discard a "Prince" card before continuing play. The Disney edition of the "Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?" card game is comprised of questions taken from a school textbook, with each question bearing a reference to a Disney character or movie. Club Penguin Card Jitsu, Pictureka and Apples to Apples are other Disney-based card games.
Electronic Games
For kids who want to play as their favorite characters from Disney movies, there are plenty of video games available. In Toy Story 3, you can play as Woody, Buzz or Jessie and do activities based on scenes from the animated movie. The game features multiple levels, and players are rewarded for completing missions. In Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End, you can play as Captain Jack, Will or Elizabeth as they take on Davy Jones and Lord Beckett in their quest to become the greatest pirate of all time. Among other Disney-based video games are Hannah Montana, Alice in Wonderland and Cars.
Online Games
Disney's official website features numerous online games across multiple genres. For fans of Toy Story 3, there is the "Toys Daycare Dash" game, where you take control of Woody as he tries to rescue Jessie, Buzz, Hamm and others from the daycare center. The Disney Channel section includes Phineas and Ferb, the Jonas Brothers and Hannah Montana themed games. Strategy games include the Pirates of the Caribbean: Card War, in which the goal is to sink your opponent's ship by playing certain battle cards. The site also features over 60 Disney-themed word and trivia games.
