Ring-Around-The-Rosie

• Ring-Around-The-Rosie is one of the most classic musical games for children. Its combination of singing and movement make it a great game for very young children who are developing their gross and fine motor skills. All participants join hands in a circle and repeat the words of the song until the lyrics "and we all fall down" are sung. At this moment, everyone must take a tumble while still holding hands. Musical Chairs

• Perfect for the pre-teen set but adaptable for younger or older children as well, musical chairs is a fun and entertaining game whose most popular feature is the fact that it can be played to any sort of music. The game begins by setting up one less chair than there are participants in the game. Music is played, and when it is stopped, each participant must sit in a chair. The one person who can't is eliminated. After each round, take away one more chair and start the music again. Play as many rounds as needed until only one player remains, who is the winner. The game can be played indoors or outdoors.

Hot Potato

While the game can technically be played to any song, there are versions of the song "Hot Potato", such as the one by the group Greg &Steve, that can be used specifically for the game. Participants sit in a circle and pass around a ball, or "potato." Since the potato is supposed to be hot, participants must pass it to the person sitting next to them as quickly as possible. As it goes around, music is being played. When the music is stopped, the person holding the "potato" is eliminated from the game. Rounds continue until the last person left without the potato is declared the winner.

Freeze Dance

Freeze dance is so versatile that it can be played at school, at camp, at a birthday party or even at home just for fun. The game is simple yet very amusing for children. Music of the children's choice is played, and the kids are free to dance around in any style they choose. When the music is stopped, the kids must freeze until the music starts again. Any child who moves when he should be frozen is eliminated from the game until the final dancer remains.
