Children's Maze Games

Completing a maze is more than just an activity to keep kids occupied. Mazes can teach kids vital lessons about strategy, planning and patience. These are skills children require in other areas of their life to develop strong character and leadership skills. Plus, mazes can always give your child&'s mind a workout as he completes mazes of increasing levels of difficulty.
  1. Snow Maze

    • The website The Kidz Page hosts a game called the Snow Maze. This game requires that kids operate the up, down, right and left arrow keys on their computer keyboard to manipulate the movements of a white, childlike figure in a pink hat. The goal is to get this figure through the maze and to the snow-covered tree. The maze is more complex than it initially seems, and kids must judge and plan carefully how to get through or they will find themselves backtracking. If a kid becomes extremely frustrated, he can always click on the "Solve The Maze" button, and the website will show him the correct route out.

    Prongo Maze Games

    • The website Prongo has a page of 18 maze games all designed for kids. One of the attractive parts of this website is that the mazes are so different from each other. For example, one is in the shape of a spider&'s web; another is in the shape of a circle; another is in the shape of a bow; and another is in the shape of a pelican. Kids trace a path out of the maze using an electronic pencil. Even though the pencil has an eraser, you can&'t erase any mistakes, but you can click on the reset button and start over at any time.

    Weather Maze

    • The official website of the British Council has a weather maze for young learners of the English language. This maze helps them review terminology and vocabulary related to weather. For example, when a player clicks on the first circle "Go," the website says a phrase connected to weather, such as "It&'s cloudy." Then the child has to click on the picture portraying cloudy weather. Once the child does that successful, the website will say a different expression related to weather such as "It&'s windy." The child then has to find the correct picture portraying windy conditions. Continuing these actions over and over again will get the child from the beginning of the maze to their house on the other side.
