Candy Hunt
Put together a candy hunt for your little party goers by hiding wrapped candy around the house or garden. Give each child a small basket or bag in which to collect their goodies and let them loose to find as many treats as they can. Ensure that you have plenty of candy hidden so that every child has a chance to find some. Use the theme of the party as your guide to selecting the right candy. For instance: at a pirate party you could hide "pirate's treasure" or chocolate coins and at a butterfly party you could hide "butterfly nectar" or fruit-flavored chews.
Poor Kitty
Poor kitty is a silly role-playing game that kids can have fun with. Seat kids in a circle and appoint one child to start as the kitty. Poor kitty prowls around the circle before stopping at one child. Poor kitty must then meow sadly three times. If the child poor kitty chooses can keep a straight face without laughing, then she becomes poor kitty and it's her turn to prowl the circle. If she is unable to hold back her giggles, poor kitty must then move on to another child until he finds someone who is able to resist laughing at his pitiful meows. Instead of poor kitty, the game could be poor puppy or any other animal that would fit into the theme of the party.
Pee-Wee Limbo
Limbo is another non-competitive party option for the preschool crowd. Appoint two limbo stick holders and play festive music to start the game. Show kids how to limbo, but let them get under the stick any way they can including crawling as it gets really low. Kids will love the follow-the-leader quality of the game and get into the limbo spirit with the music. This game works well for a beach or tropical theme party, but can be played at just about any event. You can use a broom stick instead of a limbo stick to make it more appropriate for a Halloween party, or decorate the stick with green streamers for a St. Patrick's day party.
