Baby Sitter Games to Play

Babysitting can be a fun job, but it's not always easy. It's sometimes hard to keep the kids you're sitting occupied. They can easily become bored with movies, video games and other activities. There are some simple games that have been around for decades that can keep kids entertained for hours. Babysitting will be a lot easier if you know games that the kids can play indoors and outdoors.
  1. Marco Polo

    • Blindfold one child who's "It" and have her try to find people that are standing around her, by using her hands only. It's best to play this game in a backyard, so the blindfolded seeker won't bump into furniture or break anything fragile.

    Red Light, Green Light

    • This game works best outside or in a large room. Have one child stand in the center of the room with his arms held outward to his sides. He will yell "green light" then "red light." On "green light" the other kids move toward him, on "red light" they have to freeze in place. Whoever doesn't follow a command is out of the game. The first person to tag the outstretched hand of the child at the center of the circle is the winner and becomes the next person to give the commands.

    Duck Duck Goose

    • Kids are easily entertained for hours by this game. Sit them in a circle, have one child walk around the circle and tap two heads, "duck, duck" the third head to be tapped is "goose." The child who's tapped as a goose has to chase the tapper around the circle. If the tapper gets to the goose's seat before being tagged by the goose, the goose is out of the game and has to sit in the middle of the circle. The child to the right of the, now, seated tapper becomes the next tapper to go around the circle.

    Simon Says

    • This classic game is very easy to play and can be played anywhere. The person who plays "Simon" has to say, "Simon says" and then issues a command that the other kids will follow. They can only follow a command that comes after the command, "Simon says." If they follow a command without the person saying "Simon says," then they are out of the game. The game continues until one child is left in the game; that child wins and becomes "Simon."

    Hide and Seek

    • This game can be played indoors or outdoors. The person who's the seeker will cover his eyes and count to 10 while the other players hide. The first person found by the seeker also become a seeker and must help to find the others that are hiding, the game continues until everyone is found.
