Hidden Object Games for Kids

Children have a desire to find what is lost. Games such as hide-and-go-seek and books such as the "I Spy" and "Can You See What I See" series have been popular for years, and the board game industry has started to tap into this market as well. Hidden object games are appropriate for a wide age range of children, making them an option for family game nights.
  1. 'I Spy Eagle Eye'

    • In ̶0;I Spy Eagle Eye,̶1; players match objects on the cards in their hand to objects on the game board. Each card has only one object that matches an item on the game board. The first player to find her item rings a bell. A member of the popular ̶0;I Spy̶1; franchise, "I Spy Eagle Eye" is recommended for children 5 and up. For younger children, "I Spy Eagle Eye Jr." is a simplified version of the original.

    'Can You See What I See Finders Keepers Game'

    • Creator Gamewright describes this as a ̶0;visual game of hide and seek̷0;̶1; The game consists of ̶0;Keep Me̶1; cards, which have many items pictured, and ̶0;Find Me̶1; cards, which have one item pictured. The game has instructions for two games, depending on the age of the players. For children 4 and up, players receive ̶0;Keep Me̶1; cards and must match the items on these cards to ̶0;Find Me̶1; cards. For children 8 and up, the game is reversed, and players must match ̶0;Find Me̶1; cards in their hands to ̶0;Keep Me̶1; cards set up as a game board.

    'Scavenger Hunt for Kids'

    • University Games created this live action hidden object game. Instead of having a picture of hidden objects, the entire house becomes the game board. Players get a list of items to find and have two minutes to locate them in the house. Examples of items include a red shirt, items that begin with "P" and a ruler. Players move ahead one space on the game board for each item they find. After the fourth round, there is a ̶0;Captain Cleanup̶1; round, where players race to put the found items back where they were found. Scavenger Hunt for Kids is designed for children 6 to 12.

    'I Spy Fun House' for Nintendo DS

    • Another member of the ̶0;I Spy̶1; family, this game takes the "I Spy" board game digital in a game designed for children 5 to 10. Players solve riddles by finding listed items among the clutter of each scene. In addition to solving the puzzles, there are carnival-themed mini games. In addition to the game for Nintendo DS, there are similar games available for Wii, CD-ROM and iDVD.
