How to Do Sketches for Pictionary

Pictionary is a board game for four or more players that challenges players to illustrate on-the-spot from a prompt given by the game instructions. Players roll dice and move the game pieces to the corresponding colored square on the game board. From there, the player selects a card and draws the word or phrase corresponding to the color her game piece is on. The object is to have fellow players guess the word or phrase from the card without saying anything or writing and letters or numbers on the drawing paper.

      Keep sketches simple.

Draw simple sketches. Once you select the card you only have five seconds to decide what to draw before the egg timer begins. A couple of ways to keep sketches simple are drawing basic outlines and using stick figures for people.

Give your fellow players positive reinforcement when they guess close to what your picture is. Nod your head and hold a finger up to let them know they're on the right track, then continue drawing to try to steer them in the right direction.

Use the full space of the paper. Draw pictures that lead your fellow players to conclusions as to what the word or phrase could be. For example, if you have "Park," you could draw a dog with a leash being walked through a wooded area. Or, you could draw a car with several lines next to it to denote painted parking reference lines. It's up to your creative side to properly illustrate each clue.
