Things You'll Need
Instructions
Place a hat upturned on the floor. A hat with a brim and a deep crown, such as a top hat or a fedora, is best.
Stand 5 to 15 feet away from the hat. You should start practicing at short distances and work up to longer ones as you feel more confident.
Take a playing card and grip it in your throwing hand. Place your thumb and middle finger on opposite sides of the card, with the index finger resting against the leading corner.
Tilt your wrist inward and then snap it forward, releasing the card as you do so.
Practice card throwing until you improve your range and accuracy enough to land your cards in the hat.
Adjust the distance of your throw so that the natural drop of the card lands it within the crown of the hat. Throwing slightly upward may help improve the fall of the card.
