Speed Dating
Speed dating involves socializing one-on-one with a person for a few minutes before switching to a new person. It's somewhat like a job interview, except it's short, informal and more entertaining. A bar that offers this game usually has tables for two set up the night of the event. The participants receive name tags and a table number. Usually each participating woman sits at a table. The men take turns sitting with a woman for four to eight minutes, depending on a particular bar's rules. During this time the two people ask questions and talk about their interests. When time is up, the organizer of the event rings a bell and each man must move to a different table to meet with another woman.
Masquerade
Sometimes the prejudgments people make based on outward appearance can make dating more difficult. Masquerade dating events solve this problem because they require participants to wear masks. The masks can represent a theme, such as horror movie or cartoon characters. Everyone wears a name tag and mingles on the night of the event. After a few hours, every person should remove his mask and continue to mingle.
Reception Line
The Reception Line game is similar to speed dating, except it involves rotating while standing in a line. The men and women form two separate lines and face each other. Each participant approaches and talks to the person directly across from her until the organizer gives a times-up signal. After the signal, the person at the end of the line moves to the beginning, so that every person has someone new across from her to talk with.
Find Someone
To play Find Someone, each participant must write down three things about himself on an index card, such as hobbies, pet peeves or achievements. The event organizer collects each card and randomly passes them out until every participant has another person's card. Each person must locate the person on the card he received by matching the name on the card to the person's name tag. The person introduces himself and discusses the information on the card for a few minutes. Once everyone has met with their specified person, they must switch cards to meet with a new person.
