Good Teen Party Games

Teen party games have moved beyond the days of "Truth or Dare," "Spin the Bottle," and "Seven Minutes in Heaven". While these games may still be enjoyed by some, there are a variety of new games that can help teens step out of their comfort zones and enjoy time with their friends.
  1. Dance Off

    • Choose a popular line dance and have teens compete to see who can dance the longest without messing up. The party host or another designated person can watch for people to mess up and remove them from the competition when they do. If there is a tie, those who were removed from the game and other attendees can vote on the winner.

    Eating Contest

    • Teenage boys love to eat, so challenge guests to an eating contest. See who can eat the most cake, watermelon, hot dogs, or pizza, or who can eat a pie in the fastest amount of time. Teens will enjoy going head to head in this contest. Girls could be pitted against boys to make the competition a little more interesting.

    Murder Mystery Dinner

    • Purchase a pre-made murder mystery dinner kit or write your own. When teens R.S.V.P. to the party, assign a character and provide a character profile. At the party, the guests dress and act in character. The goal throughout the dinner is to figure out who the murderer is through interacting with the other guests. It is important for guests to be familiar with their character profile and to tell the truth at all times. To make the game more interesting, specific characters can be given extra biographical information during the party. At the end of the party, guests reveal who they think the murderer is and why.

    Scavenger Hunt

    • Take teens to the mall or another area with a lot of stores and provide them with a list of items to find or things to do. As teams complete an item on the list, they must take a picture with the item or of the activity. Bonus points can be awarded for things such as getting an employee or another customer in the picture with them.

    Pop Bottle Shove

    • Split teens into teams and give each team a plastic pop bottle. On another table, place a grocery bag filled with plastic sandwich bags full of squishy items such as marshmallows, gummy worms, and bananas and small items such as beans, rice, and chocolate chips. Messy items such as creamed corn, jell-o, and pudding can make the game more difficult. Teens on each team take turns racing to the table of items, grabbing a sandwich bag without looking, and dumping the item it contains into the pop bottle. The first team to fill their pop bottle wins the game.
