Embarrassing Ice Breaker Games

"How much does a polar bear weigh? Enough to break the ice." Meeting new people can be awkward, but introductions can be much easier to stomach when everyone is getting embarrassed together. Try these embarrassing ice breaker ideas at your next big party to avoid fumbling "hellos" and premature "goodbyes."
  1. Never Have I Ever

    • Have everybody sit in a circle and hold up all ten fingers. Make a statement about something that you have never done before, starting with the phrase, "Never have I ever..." For instance, you might say, "Never have I ever been overseas." Anyone that has been overseas must put one finger down. The next person in the circle makes a statement and so on. If you drop all ten fingers, you're out of the game.

This game is embarrassing for two reasons. First, most games end up moving into pretty embarrassing territory. Expect to silently reveal previous experiences with your dropping fingers. Second, it can be embarrassing to be one of the last few people in the game because everyone will probably view these people as "prudish" or "inexperienced." However, this game is excellent for getting to know each other quickly and usually sparks good conversation later on.

    Most Embarrassing Moment

    • Have everyone write a brief description of their most embarrassing moment on a slip of paper. Have everyone fold up their sheet of paper and drop it into a hat. Shake up the hat and pull out a slip of paper. After reading the description, challenge the group to guess its owner. Once the owner is correctly guessed, the story must be told in all its glory.

This game gets interesting towards the end because there will only be a few remaining party guests who haven't told a story. While this makes it easier to guess the owner, it almost makes it more embarrassing when the group quickly identifies the moment with the person who experienced it.

    Pass the Orange

    • Split your party guests into two equal teams. If there is an extra person, sit the game out to referee. Have each team line up single-file and give the first person in line an orange to be held under the chin. When you start the game, each team must pass the orange from person to person using only the chin. Hands are not allowed and should be clasped behind the back. After passing the orange all the way down the line, it must be passed back up to you for the victory. The first team to do so wins the game.

This game can be incredibly embarrassing with the right group. People that are protective of their physical bubbles will have a hard time necking with their teammates to pass the orange. For an added twist, add blindfolds to the mix and declare a rule of silence. Accidental kisses are likely.

    Two Truths and a Lie

    • Give each party guest a sheet of paper and have each person write down two embarrassing truths and one lie in any order. Make sure that the lies are not too outlandish. Sit in a circle and have each person read off the list. The rest of the group must guess which statements are true and which is the lie. After revealing the truth, the writer must expound on the truths for extra embarrassment. Play moves on to the next person in the circle.

Like "Most Embarrassing Moment" and "Never Have I Ever," this game will offer plenty of stories and good conversation.
