Serenity RPG Resources

Released in 2005, the Serenity role-playing game is based in the cult classic universe of Joss Whedon's short-lived TV show "Firefly," and its movie follow up, "Serenity." The game offers plays the chance to take on characters on similar ships, working the outer worlds in an attempt to stay under the Alliance's radar and make a living. Sometimes, it's even an honest living...
  1. Out in the Black

    • "Out in the Black" is the first scenario released for the game. It also marks a welcome return for Saffron, the con woman who featured in the "Our Mrs Reynolds" and "Trash" episodes in the original series. She manipulates the players into helping her locate a stash of treasure from the war, leading them into a complex web of mission and counter-mission that culminates in them having to not only outwit Saffron, but recover the treasure for themselves.

    Serenity Adventures

    • A collection of short adventures for the role-playing game, "Serenity Adventures" is designed to give Game Masters short scenarios that can be dropped directly into play. The five adventures in the book are designed to show the various activities freighter crews are likely to get up to, ranging from a search for a mysterious missing spacecraft to "Ghosts of the Rebellion," which involves the players having to steal a ship back from an old friend and former war colleague.

    Six-Shooters and Spaceships

    • The first and, as of April 2011, only equipment source book for the game, "Six-Shooters and Spaceships" details six ships of various sizes and their crews. In addition, the source book provides detailed explorations of the Cortex computer system, the Newtech developments of the Core Worlds and Camera and Assassin 'Bots. It also explores the universes' monetary system and how credits and platinum are both legal tender.

    Big Damn Heroes Handbook

    • The latest supplement published as of April 2011, "Big Damn Heroes Handbook" serves primarily as a rules expansion book, specifically providing new Assets and Complications. The game also details ideas and scenario hooks for Game Masters, as well as going into more detail on the Chinese elements of culture in the "Serenity" universe and introducing the Tongs and new Chao Ji phrases. The book also provides stats for Badger, the popular supporting character played by Mark Sheppard in the TV series.
