How to Play Magic the Gathering Online for Free

Magic: The Gathering is a collectible card game enjoyed by millions of players around the world. In the game, two or more players gather together and use cards to engage in fantasy battles with one another. You also have the option of enjoying Magic online. This way, you can challenge different players from around the world. Perhaps the best part about playing Magic online is that you don't have to buy anything.

Instructions

  Log onto the Magic League website.

  Download the Magic Workstation software. This program is necessary in order to play Magic: The Gathering on Magic League, as it keeps track of your cards. Install the program after it has finished downloading.

  Read the Magic Workstation Guide. This will walk you through the software program and answer any questions you may have.

  Become a member of the Magic League website. To do so, click on the "Sign Up" link found on the left of the home page. Once on the registration page, enter a user name, contact information (email address) and any other information you wish, such as "AIM Screen name" or "Occupation." You must register with Magic League in order to play on the website.

  Click on the "Chat &Play Room" link on the left side of the screen to introduce yourself to other Magic players. This is also how you will create or join games. On the Play Chatroom page, select "Magic Workstation (MWS) Play in Magic-League" option after you have downloaded the "Magic Workstation" software to enter the chat room.

  Click the "Calendar" link to the left of the home page to read about upcoming events and tournaments. Most of these tournaments will be for those who pay money, but there are a few free tournaments open to all users from time to time.
