Hairdresser Games for Girls

For many girls, beauty salons are enchanting places full of possibilities. Some girls may have moms who frequent the hair salons and others may simply have a beauty doll set. While most young girls may never grow up to open a hairdressing salon, playing hairdresser games with their friends is a great way to explore the glitz of fashion and style. As you create your dream game, just make sure to have your parents' permission before trying any outrageous styles!
  1. Choosing Your Salon

    • Since your hairdresser game will probably consist of a salon or beauty parlor of some sort, choose the type of salon you want. Some hairdressers offer additional services ranging from nails to make-up. However, other hairdressers only work on hair. Do you want your salon to be big and glamorous or more like a small-town beauty shop?

If you hairdresser game will only have two participants, a small salon with a single chair is best. One person can play the role of hairdresser and the other can be the customer. Then, you two can switch roles. For larger groups of girls, consider a more elaborate salon set-up. A receptionist, other customers, hairdressers and a salon sweeper are just a few of the additional roles you can use. If you have access to a sink, consider having a special set-up for the "hair washing" area. Larger groups can have one person dedicated to hair washing. However, if it's only you and another girl, the stylist can also wash the hair. Remember to check with your parents before you use water or other products that can make a mess.

    Choosing Your Hairstyles

    • Look through your favorite magazines and style websites, such as Latest Hairstyles, for particular hairstyles that you want to try out. If you have access to a printer, print out some of the hairstyles you like. Tape the individual hairstyle pictures to sheets of paper to create a hairstyle book. Then, the person playing the customer can browse through the book for her perfect style.

Choose styles that you can achieve through simple braiding or hair tie techniques. Avoid styles that will require cutting, unless you have a qualified parent or guardian who is willing to play the role of stylist. Wetting the hair (with a sink or spray bottle), brushing the hair and setting the hair are just as fun as the final hairstyles.

    Safety and Other Considerations

    • In the name of safety, do not use scissors, clippers or other sharp hair-cutting items. Also avoid shampoos that can hurt your eyes, hair-dye, gels or any items that contain chemicals. Do not use a hair dryer or other electrical equipment without parental supervision. As you begin your game, remember that hairdresser games are supposed to be fun. If you are playing the role of the hairdresser and your customer tells you that something you are doing hurts, stop.

Also, don't forget to take turns. If you are playing with a large group, don't make one person receptionist or sweeper the whole time. Give everyone a chance to play. Likewise, if you are styling one of your friends' hair, frequently ask what she thinks of her new hair-do. Communication will make the customer feel like part of the process and add to the overall fun.

If you have the resources, make use of salon accessories, such as aprons, curlers and mirrors. Also, use a camera to document the game; this will provide future laughs and also help you create better games in the future.
