What are roleplayers?

"Roleplayers" can have a few different meanings, depending on the context:

1. Tabletop Roleplaying Game Players:

This is the most common meaning. Roleplayers are people who participate in tabletop roleplaying games (TTRPGs) like Dungeons & Dragons, Pathfinder, Call of Duty, etc. Here's what they do:

* Create a character: They design a fictional character with unique abilities, strengths, weaknesses, and a backstory.

* Act out their character: During the game, they use their imagination and creativity to bring their character to life, interacting with other players' characters and the game's world.

* Collaborate with others: They work together with the game master (GM) and other players to build a story and experience adventures.

* Use dice and rules: TTRPGs often use dice to determine the outcome of actions, and players follow a set of rules to create a structured experience.

2. Online Roleplayers:

This can refer to people who engage in:

* Roleplaying in online communities: These communities often have specific themes or genres, and players create characters and interact with each other through text, voice chat, or virtual avatars.

* Roleplaying in video games: Some video games allow players to customize their characters and engage in roleplaying elements, like dialogue choices, relationships with other characters, and crafting a unique backstory.

3. Actors and Performers:

In some cases, "roleplayers" can be used as a synonym for actors or performers, particularly those who take on different roles in their work.

In short, "roleplayers" are people who enjoy creating and inhabiting fictional characters, engaging in storytelling and interactive experiences, and often relying on imagination and creativity.
