How to Make a Game With Scriptures

The Christian religion places a high priority on learning the Bible. In times of difficulty, stress and grief, the scriptures encourage and comfort believers. But teaching both young and old Bible verses takes time, which can present a challenge with the business of life. Make a scripture game from readily available materials to enjoy time with others who value the Bible and learn the scriptures in the process.

Instructions

    • 1

Write out the Bible verse on the note cards, one word per card, including the reference, before you start the game. Make two copies of the same verse, as each team will receive all the cards for the same verse.

    • 2

Practice saying the Bible verse with the whole group.

    • 3

Divide your group into two even teams.

    • 4

Call out people to come up to the front and hand out cards to each one in order. Each person should hold up the cards, and everyone can again practice saying the verse together.

    • 5

Eliminate one to three words at a time, until everyone can say the verse without seeing or looking at the words. Continue to practice repeating the verse aloud until everyone can easily say it.

    • 6

Mix up all the cards and give one to each person. Have the teams race to put the cards in order. Say the verse again. If your group is really large, play the game again but let different people take a turn.
